Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Masonry Measured (“we”, “us”) looks after personal information when you use our website or send us an enquiry. We keep it short and in plain English.
1. Who we are
Masonry Measured is the controller of your personal data. We are a specialist brickwork estimating consultancy working with UK bricklaying contractors.
Email: hello@masonrymeasured.co.uk. This is our only contact route, and it is the address to use for anything in this policy.
2. What information we collect
- When you contact us: your name, company name, email address, project name and location, tender return date and anything you write in your message or email.
- Project documents: drawings, specifications, schedules and other files you send us so we can prepare a quotation and take-off. These sometimes include names or contact details of other people, such as architects or site contacts.
- Website use: our website runs on Squarespace, which uses cookies that are needed for the site to work and collects basic, anonymised visit statistics (such as pages viewed and the type of device).
We do not ask for your phone number, and we do not knowingly collect special category data or information about children.
3. How and why we use it
We use your information to:
- reply to your enquiry and prepare a quotation (our legitimate interest in running our business, and steps you ask us to take before entering into a contract);
- carry out the work you have approved and deal with any follow-up questions (performing our contract with you);
- keep business, accounting and tax records (a legal obligation);
- keep our website secure and understand how it is used (our legitimate interest).
We do not sell your information. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not send marketing emails unless you ask us to.
4. Confidentiality of your project documents
We use your drawings and documents only to prepare your quotation and take-off. We do not share them with anyone else, other than the service providers listed below that we need to run our business.
5. Who we share information with
We use trusted providers to run the business. They handle information on our behalf and only as we instruct:
- Squarespace: hosts our website and contact form.
- Google: provides our email and any file storage we use.
- File-sharing services: services such as Dropbox, Google Drive or WeTransfer, when you send us a link to your files.
- Accountants and payment providers: only the details needed to invoice you and keep our records.
We may also share information if the law requires it.
6. Transfers outside the UK
Some of these providers may store or process information outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on safeguards that the UK GDPR accepts, such as the UK’s approved international transfer arrangements.
7. How long we keep it
We keep enquiries, quotations and project files for as long as we need them to deliver the work and answer follow-up questions, and for ordinary business, accounting and legal record-keeping. After that we delete them securely. If you would like something deleted sooner, email us and we will do it unless the law requires us to keep it.
8. Cookies
We do not run advertising or tracking cookies of our own. Squarespace uses cookies that are necessary to run the site and to provide basic statistics. If we add other cookies in the future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first where the law requires it. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
9. Keeping your information safe
We use reputable, secure services, protect our accounts with passwords and extra sign-in checks, and limit who can see your documents. No online service is completely secure, but we take care to protect your information.
10. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong;
- ask us to delete your information;
- ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to our use of it;
- ask us to give you your information in a portable format.
To use any of these rights, email hello@masonrymeasured.co.uk. We will reply within one month.
11. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
